My name is Sean Busch. I got into detailing just like most of us do... I wanted to keep my car exceptionally clean.
It all began as a Mother's Day gift idea in 2001. My mom had a red PT Cruiser that was driven frequently, and it showed. I sought out to shampoo the carpets and make that brilliant red paint glisten. Early on I figured out things along the way by trial and error and talking to some elders, but I knew there was more to it.
I turned to the internet when I picked up my 1996 Acura Integra. The car was mechanically perfect but it sat outside year-round so the Milano Red paint, was more like Milano Pink. I seeked the advice of big names such as Mike Phillips and Sal Zaino. When I picked up the car, my friends congratulated me, but there was something missing in their tone. I spent an entire weekend claybarring, compounding, polishing, and sealing the paint. When I showed up to school on Monday, the compliments poured in. People asked if I had the car repainted, as did neighbors and family members. I was on to something...
I capitalized on this by continued learning and practice. I set out to make a business of it and founded Detailing By Executive in 2004 after a few years of side jobs with no name. I ran DBE full-time during the summers and on the weekends during the rest of the year. I worked around my college class schedule to meet the needs of clients. I became more active in the online detailing community Autopia.org and was testing products for most of the major detailing product companies.
When I graduated in 2006, I had ideas of continuing full-time, but a client of mine approached me about a corporate position for the company he was the CEO of. I took the job, but continued detailing on the weekends for a select handful of clients. I had the opportunity to perform a Concours d'Elegance detail on the Ferrari F40 above with a friend and colleague, Justin Doria. In 2010, another one of my clients approached me about a management position at the company he owned. I moved to Austin with my wife and that brings us to present day. I love detailing and offer my services on a very limited basis to the residents in the greater Austin Texas area. I continue this site as I believe there needs to be more sharing of good information. Please take a look around, ask questions, and enjoy!
